Do you remember Frank Lampard's controversial goal against Germany at knockout stages of 2010 World Cup? The controversial decision that made England furious, Germany breathe a sigh of relief and rest of the world confused? It was just the tip of the iceberg and not a one-off scene; as we have witnessed numerous times: Thousands of fans in the stadium spot the ball cross the goal line, but the most important of them all – the referee, declares: "No-goal!" Germany breathed a sigh of relief then, but considering luck's fickle nature and human imperfection, any country could face the brunt of a bad decision. Amidst the deafening crowd, the referee regards the action-paced game and makes split-second decisions, just yards away from all the flailing bodies. To reduce the margin of error and assist referees, the International Football Association Board (IFAB), the governing body of FIFA, officially approved the use of Goal Line Technology in July 2012. The main aim of Goal Line Technology (GLT) is not to replace the role of the referees, but rather to support them in their decision-making.
